Typecast: Dumpster Selectric

Our new golfball, before it was unseated and stolen away.

Goodbye, Selectric. Or is it an 82C? I haven't learned to tell the difference  yet.

Books in the paper bin, headed for recycling or incineration, I'm not sure which.

No happy endings here.

  1. Good call on grabbing the golfball.

That looked like a Selectic II. It is a shame to be in the dumpster, but quite understandable. They are heavy and take up a lot of space and if you don't have the space, its just not worth it.

  2. I think you are right about the tetanus liability. Things are taken seriously here in Switzerland. Especially Geneva has always upheld high moral standards since the times of Calvin.
You gave this Selectric a fine memorial space. Even though electric, it really is a mechanical masterpiece. I got a red one of this series, which still awaits inspection.

  3. Wow - but what a find. The things people throw out... Even pawnbrokers know to check online before dumping anything, to see if it has *any* potential value...

  4. I don't know which distrubs me more - the unwanted typewriter or the unwanted books. Either way it's a shame!
